Artist Statement: The Invisible Line

 

My work represents the global pandemic that we are all currently living through at the moment and how it has been warped by the media. My piece that I have created is an action figure but he is zombie-like and gruesome to look at because I wanted to represent the image that scaremongering creates in people’s mind when we think of Covid-19.

 

 I decided to use dark humour to portray my piece because although this is an extremely serious time I think that my audience needs something to lighten the events that are constantly surrounding us! I have taken inspiration from personal experiences such as watching the news everyday religiously, hearing other people’s stories and also from an online model making forum where everyone is living through this pandemic and creating many different pieces portraying their feelings through art.
